A friend of mine has really thick frizzy hair. She keeps it cut right above her shoulders but it is still wild. Her Dad and Mom both have thick hair so hers is twice as thick. Do y'all have any tips on how she can tame her hair so it isn't so frizzy and wild?

get a really good flat iron. at a professional beauty supply store. theyre pretty pricy, but they take care of all the frizz, and moderate the thickness. if its too much money-wise, try an anti-frizz serum, blowdry with low heat or cooling option. then for the thickness, have her go to a salon and they can thin her hair w/ thinning shears.

every night i put some sort of hand lotion on the ends of hair. not too much then i brush out my hair and apply a little more to the ends. then i wrap it in a bun for the night then VOILA!! its sleek and much more manageable however do Not brush it out. it turns into a not so sleek mess.

I too have thick frizzy hair - I've tried EVERY product out there - the best I've found is "Redken Glass". Apply a little bit after towel drying and then blow dry hair using a natural bristle brush. (stay away from the popular plastic vent brushes - they'll just make more frizz), then to smooth out the frizziness, use a really big curling iron to get control of those curls! It took me 20+ years to figure this out...... but it works!

She should also use a shampoo that is supposed to tame frizzy hair.. good brands are Got2be and Sun Silk.. my hair is super frizzy and i use the Sun Silk anti-poof!!

Also she should try using a nice light hairspray or gel! She should also try the Garnier Fructis Milk. It instantly smooths you hair, De-frizzes and makes it soo soft and touchable!

Another idea is to try a thining shampoo that will make her hair more fine and less thick!!

I have the exact same hair...drives me NUTS!!! Tell her to GROW IT OUT!! The shorter it is the worse it will look...the length will weigh it down and tell her to use TextureLine hair gel by Loreal (sold at professional salons)..she needs a heavy shampoo and cond and heavy products! Pantene is good and also Keratese (kinda pricey)

When she gets a cut tell them to THIN it out as much as possible..I do all this and bought a CHI to straighten it...no one is the wiser... :)

She should put coconut oil. That would help reduce the frizzies and make hair really shiny. It would be better if she applies in at night before she sleep and take a shower in the morning. That would help penetrate the oil into the scalp and work its magic. Also, it would reduce stress so she would have a good night sleep. She could take a shower in the morning by using a shampoo that would help reduce the frizz. I reccomend John Frieda new line of shampoos n conditioners. Afterwards, just apply Frizz Ease by the same company. John Frieda is the best!
