Need help with thick hair?

I have had very thick hair my entire life and its always be frizzy. it also has a lot of natural wave that goes wherever it wants. I would like to keep the length and even let it grow longer (right now it sits about 2-3 inches below my shoulders) however b/c it is so thick (i break hair ties often) it gets very heavy and i get headaches from the weight. I plan on getting it next month when I go home from school and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a cut or how to thin it out? I would love to finally let my hair get long again (was at my waist when i was younger) b/c the length seems to help control the frizz but I can't put up with the weight.

Also, say i get it cut to just above my shoulders again (a last resort) it gets extremely frizzy and i feel like i can't do anything with it. any suggestions on ways to control the frizz? i have tried just about every product. my hair is naturally wavy but i also like to straighten it and use a curling iron for real curls..help

Need help with thick hair?

I naturally used to have very curly/frizzy hair...for some reason after high school, it turned more wavy and tame.

When I had uncontrollable frizz (which was often, living in South Florida), I used a couple of products.

The first one is Aussie brand leave-in conditioner called 'Hair Insurance'. It's only a few dollars at your local drugstore. You spray it in after the shower and it helps moisturize your hair.

Then, I used a gel called Garnier Fructis Wet Shine Gel. You put it in when your hair is starting to dry (after the leave-in conditioner) and brush. Then I used a flat iron. It was perfect. (You can find the gel at your drugstore for fairly cheap as well.)

Good luck!

Need help with thick hair?

thining it only solves the problems for a little while, i have long thick hair too and it used to be mega frizzy, until i discovered GHD'S, they are fantastic, and well worth the money, find a salon that has them and go for a wash and blow dry, see what they do to your hair, they make it so sleek, shiney and soft, pay for a blow dry before paying for the GHD'S, they are not cheap but worth every penny, this way you can keep your long hair, without any hassles or worries, good luck

Ya straighten it!

I have like such thick hair. My hair ties break all the time, and when i have my hair in ponytails my head aches, i feel your pain!

I straighten it i works like a charm, but then but like put like straighter stuff on it and it keeps it all not crazy.

Need help with thick hair?

keep your hair shorter, but not too short, like a little bit past your shoulders. then, ask your hair stylist to thin it out. you'll feel so much better!

i would say chemically straighten your hair, but that does soo much damage. but if you wanna go for it, try it!
