It also is v. wavy at the ends, and i have a fringe down to the end of my face. My hairdresser said to get it layered, should I do this? Is there any other low-cost options? what should I do? Any suggestions? PLEASE!
Thick hair, should it be layered, PLEASE HELP!?
oh my god!!! i have the same EXACT hair! i just got mine layered. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it just makes your hair really knotted. it looks awesome when you first get it done. but the try sleeping on it. once i spent 30 mins on my hair for my school yearbook pictures. i picked up my glasses then brushed through my hair one last time and it was completely knotted again. get it cut to a little bit above your shoulders. it feels really nice a hardly any knotts. jut make sure you have no bangs. that just makes the whole hair cut go KABOOM!!!!!!!!!! tell your hairdresser that you dont like your bangs and want your hair cut a litle above your shoulders and straightened. IT LOOKS FAB!!!!!!!
The place expectations in maryland works the best. tell them you want Connie. she awesome

ask your hair dresser if she has a tool that "thins" your hair out...that tool cuts the "inside" of your hair...my sister who has very thick hair always asks her hair dresser to use this tool...if they dont have it then layers is fine =)

I have thick hair as well and I was always to afraid to cut it in layers.
However, about three months ago I finally gave in to my hairdresser's advice and went for it and I can tell you with 100% certainty that it was a fantastic decision!
It's so much easier to handle and I really like how it looks.
So I would definitely recommend that you do this.
And remember, in the case that you wouldn't like it, don't worry, hair always continues to grow.
Oh, and last time I was there she used "thinning" scissors which made it even better [these scissors will cut from the inside of your hair].
So I did both and am very happy.
You may want to try one first and see how you like it.
Good luck!

Don't layer your hair!!!!!! Just don't do it!!!! For one it will make you look like a lesbian. Also, when you finally want it all to be one length again, you will have to cut it painfully short and wait for it all to grow back out again. Your best bet is to go to a stylist and let them work their magic. Stylists would kill to work on a nice head of hair like yours.

go for the dbl layer. shorter on top, 2 inches longer on bottom layer at hair ends. Have you not seen it?

I have the same problem. Layering thick hair could be a good thing. If you went to get layers put into your hair it could make your hair seem a little thinner than it is. In my opinion I think it would be a great idea! Just make sure that your hair dresser doesn't take too much off. Since you have shoulder length hair it would be best to get long layers instead of short. Just tell your hair dresser what you want and if it doesn't work for you then find a way to fix it by giving it some volume (which could also be a key point for thick hair). But good luck to you and your decision.

layers are really good..trust me I have hair like yours and also get it thinned out a little good luck! Do you straighten it? I always used to but then began to curl it by scrunching it after it had been washed and it looks soo much better! Good luck

You should get it layered because i have thick hair also but i have a disadvantage because it is indian hair. Layers help it get evened out it will reduce the thickness! Good Luck! And if you are still unsure just follow what you think you will like!
Thick hair, should it be layered, PLEASE HELP!?
Your hair is too short for layers. DON'T DO IT! If your hair is really thick- the last thing you need is layers. It will make your hair totally pouf, and it will look like a clown. When you have thick hair, your shortest layer should be at least an inch below your chin- which is what the length is now.
Let it grow, and use some really good deep conditioners to soften it. Listen to your hairdressers, but don't let them do short layers. Believe me- when I was about your age, I did the same thing and wound up wearing my hair half back for six months. (since it was too short for a regular ponytail)

i am turning 13 and i have thick hair too, its also brown and wavy. so, i have the same sort of problems you may have with your hair. i would get it layered buy whatever you do DONT get deep layerers. you hair will puff up because its too short. unless you want it to puff up. my mom has short hair and its thick and wavy and she has to straighten it every day. i would also get the side swept bangs. if i were you i would grow it out a little longer and get trims. so u will have long layers. but if u dont want your hair long get it layered as it is.and just dont grow it out.

i'm 13 and i have soooo thick hair aswell! i got loads of layers in it and it was a huge mistake! i used to have dead straight hair... then i got layers and it just turns to a ball of friz! but long layers look great! i always ask for them longer than i actually want because they look shorter when they're in!
